There are so many things to do and see in Canberra. Every week I find myself at a book launch at the National Library, an artist talk at the National Gallery, listening to a piano recital at the High Court or enjoying a meal or a coffee with friends at one of the many restaurants and cafes that Canberra has to offer.
I enjoy posting my reviews of places that a lot of Canberran’s think are inaccessible, or that they don’t realise host concerts, or holiday programs for children, or that house fascinating free exhibitions that everyone can enjoy.
I love the fact that I have access to six different parkrun events, that I can take my niblings to Old Parliament House and take photos of them in the Speaker’s Chair, that I am only two and a half hours from either the beach or the snow depending on what direction I travel in. Canberra is a city of festivals. We have the National Multicultural Festival, Enlighten Festival, the Balloon Festival, the Canberra International Music Festival, Art Not Apart, Spilt Milk, Groovin the Moo, the Canberra Heritage Festival, and the Canberra Writer’s Festival just to highlight a few. The Forage and the Handmade Markets are held every quarter and showcase food, drink, entertainment, craft and makers from around the region.Canberra gets a bit of a bad wrap. People think it’s boring. That it is just filled with politicians and public servants. The truth is that it is a vibrant and beautiful city with so many things to do, see, and experience. I hope that you come to visit, see the sights, do the things and drink the atmosphere in.
