Can Cacti Be More Beautiful Than Flowers? 🌵✨

Do you believe that a cactus can be even more beautiful than a flower?
Also, did you know that these prickly wonders bloom with stunning flowers of their own?
I’m excited to share six photos of the incredible cacti I’ve encountered.

If you want to see even more diverse and unique varieties,
you should definitely check out the Cactus Pavilion!
It is located inside Ilsan Lake Park in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.

There’s a special reason why this exhibition is located here:
The Hub of Cacti: Goyang-si is the heart of cactus production in Korea,
accounting for over 40% of the nation’s total output.
Global Leader: South Korea is actually the world’s largest exporter of grafted cacti!

Because of this rich local heritage,
this dedicated pavilion was built to showcase their beauty.
If you take a look at my full review and the attached photos,
you’ll get a great preview of the amazing varieties waiting for you inside.

Hi! Thank you so much for the warm welcome and the kind words.
I am thrilled to be a part of this amazing community.
As you suggested, I will head over to the self-introduction section right away to introduce myself.
I’m also looking forward to organizing great events with other Korean local guides soon.
Thanks for the guidance!

I have recently joined this site and am not quite sure how to properly introduce myself.
Could you please provide me with some detailed guidance on how to do it?

Beautiful photos, @geoKoreaSong
I love cacti, and in my opinion they are incredibly beautiful.
Years ago my friend @KarenVChin guided me to The Ruth Bancroft Garden & Nursery a few days before Connect Live 2019. The place was so beautiful that I wanted to write a post about it: Discovering Cacti and Succulents - The Ruth Bancroft Garden & Nursery
There is an interesting area where to enjoy cacti also in the Padua Botanical Garden - The oldest Botanical Garden of the world.

One tip for you: As we are a worldwide community, sharing a link in Google Maps of the place you are talking about can help the whole community to explore it through photos and reviews published by Local Guides like you and me.
Is this the place mentioned in your post? Ilsan Lake Park

In Connect we have a monthly topic, started by a Google Moderator, for introducing the new Local Guides to the Community and to welcome them. You can take inspiration by the December topic: Introduce Yourself — December 2025
December Topic will be closed today, but in a couple of days Google will start a new one about January 2026. You will find the topic on the top of the main page of Connect, in the carousel of the featured topics

Thank you very much for your detailed comment and for sharing that helpful information. I will definitely check out the two places you mentioned in your posts. Also, you are right—the place I posted about is indeed Ilsan Lake Park. The Cactus Greenhouse (or Cactus Exhibition Hall) is located right within the park.

I believe I was able to introduce myself well thanks to your helpful guidance.
I truly appreciate your support.

Thank you so much for the detailed information and for sharing those wonderful links! I will definitely take some time to explore the Ruth Bancroft Garden and the Padua Botanical Garden through your posts.

As you mentioned, the place in my photos is indeed Ilsan Lake Park, and it houses a specialized Cactus Greenhouse.

I noticed an interesting difference between the two places: while the Ruth Bancroft Garden is a beautiful natural outdoor garden, the Goyang Cactus Greenhouse is an indoor facility. Due to Korea’s four distinct seasons, our cacti are carefully cultivated and displayed inside a large greenhouse to maintain the ideal environment year-round.
