Belarusian mountains in Soligorsk

Winter is approaching, which means that we can remember the wonderful moments of the past summer. Let’s go!

Closed borders gave us a great opportunity to explore our small and beautiful country. One of my trips was to the mountains of Soligorsk, which is in the Minsk region.

Hard to believe, but these are not real mountains! They were formed as a result of the extraction of potash salt. Simply put, it is industrial waste. The scale is impressive, isn’t it?

The mountains are not a tourist attraction, it is an industrial area and you can get a fine for driving here.

But for a real tourist this is not an obstacle, because I drove 150 km to see this miracle!

Nice pics, @Rymaszewsca . The scenery is very attractive to my taste. We also have extraction mountains - terricones or slug mountains - but they look different as they are from coal mines and the soil contains other elements. Anyway, this kind of waste is mesmerising though may be dangerous to walk (at least terricones from coal mines). If you are interested, I have a post about “industrial mountains” in my region (Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine).

@OlgaKlimchik , thanks for tagging me in an interesting post.
