In our downtown, I’m setting up a “base office” for Local Guide meetings, meetups, Business Profile assistance/support, etc. I’m meeting and have met with the local Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Center, and other small business advocates. Is anyone else doing this? What’s your story?
Hi @Karin-Wilson-NC ,
thank you for reaching out to us.
This is indeed a nice idea and appreciated idea, however whatever you do please keep in mind that participation into the Local Guides program is personal since Local Guides is a totally volunteer program, so it is strictly forbidden to the business activities. Moreover Local Guides should not offer paid services connected to the Local Guides program being a personal and volunteer program (because we do it as a passion). Infringements of the Local Guides program rules may lead to the suspension of the account.
You can still organize meetups and promote personally the Local Guides program with your community.
Since you posted in the Local Stories board I’m tagging here @TsekoV to move your post into the How-tos board where it best fits. You can read more about What are Connect topics?.
Thank you and Happy Guiding!
Hi @LuigiZ , Thank you for the reply, tips and links. I read the program rules I will be sure to follow those. We will always remain volunteers and not receive monies for any Local Guide efforts. In our community, this seemed like the best way to reach out and help the local businesses.
Great initiative.
