Thanks for your nice comments @955HIRO Certainly Barfi has a history, but unfortunately, I don’t know that. I will try to find the history of it. This is a popular sweet for years in the Indian Subcontinent and it will exist for more time in the coming future. Thanks once again.
Hello. I think the sweets you made have a wonderful history. The wonderful sweets that the respected ancestors have inherited will look even better if you eat them with respect. All dishes have a history and are spice-up with the wisdom of respected predecessors. I think eating food is eating the wisdom of our predecessors. Thank you very much. Regard
After your first comments on the history of Barfi, I searched many sites to get its origin. But I failed. Everywhere, there is a common discussion about it. You can see here what wiki talks about Barfi. The Indian subcontinent is very much famous for its spicy and sweet foods. Barfi belongs to the later division, sweet or dessert. Barfi was offered to the Hindu Gods from the time unknown. And it is still offered on the feet of the Gods during festivals like Diwali. I am sorry that I cannot give you the right information @955HIRO
I want to take kind help from @RosyKohli mam and @TravellerG Ji- if possible, please tell us something about the origin or history of Barfi in the Indian Subcontinent. I guess only both of you can give us an idea about it. Thanks in advance.
Finally, I got a source about the timing of the origin of sweets in Indian Subcontinent @955HIRO Actually, refined sugar was invented in India 8000 years ago (6000BCE) and from then various kinds of sweets and desserts were made. Variations have come in items, sizes, shapes, and tastes. So, in conclusion, we can say that Barfi is a thousand years old Dessert who originated in this subcontinent. Please read the source here. Thank you very much as you inspired me to go to the root of Barfi. We often eat them but never think how and when they have come to us. Regards.
Hello. Thanks to you I have been able to get a lot of information about Barfi. When I saw your Barfi picture after knowing the Barfi information you gave me, it seemed more and more delicious. I became more and more fond of India as I learned about the history of historic Barfi and other Indian sweets. I think that India is not only a country that will lead the IT society in the future, but also a wonderful country that will make history and times with sweets. Dear @955HIRO ,
Thanks a lot as you like the information I provided you about the history of Barfi. Sweets are essential parts of our daily meal in the Indian Subcontinent. You will get various kinds of sweets in this region which have a years-long glorious history. Barfi is one of them.
Though I am from Bangladesh, but I must India is really going to lead the future IT sector of the world. You know the top bosses of Google and Microsoft are of Indian origin. There are so many we don’t know. People in Bangladesh are also doing good in IT sector, but we not yet to that advanced level. Indian religious history (Hinduism) is also interesting. They have a lot of Gods and Goddesses to worship. There are a lot of historic tales of them. If you can manage time, you can read about them. I am adding a link here for you to start. Thanks for your nice comments and compliments.
You are right @RosyKohli , Barfies can be made in many ways with different ingredients. You told about besan Barfi, @Designer_Biswajit told about Suji Barfi and I told about Dal Barfi. So in this single post, we came to know about 3 types of Barfi.
Your recipe below is just amazing. I must try it at home. If I go to India, I must try the Doda Barfi for sure. Thanks for your nice comments and the recipe.
It’s amazing @MukulR bhai.
ami must try korbo.
@Saiyen Everything is easy except the making of the dough of Dal. Anyway, you can try at home and let us see the result here. I am sure you will enjoy making this and love eating this. Regards.
Hi @MukulR ,
Thanks for sharing these tasty barfies with us! I also love baking desserts from time to time, mostly chocolate cakes. ![]()
If you’d like to see some delicious Italian cookies, you don’t want to miss the cookies prepared by @Sillaepepe some months ago: San Vigilini i biscotti del lago di Garda.
Barfi is older than the San Vigilini @Giu_DiB . It has many variations that depend on its ingredients but the final product is a sweet or a dessert. If you are lucky you may get the Barfies in any Indian sweet selling store in your country.
I have read the post of @Sillaepepe on the historic San Vigilini. That post is great and I will read her other posts also. Thanks for tagging me to her post and thanks for liking this post.
