Assistance Needed for Google Maps Contributions

Dear Google Maps Support Team,I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention some concerns regarding my contributions to Google Maps and to seek assistance in resolving them.Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude for reaching Level 8 in the Google Maps Local Guides program. It has been a rewarding journey so far, and I have dedicated countless hours to contributing valuable reviews and information to enhance the user experience.Unfortunately, I recently missed out on redeeming a gift code that was sent to me due to its expiration. This was disheartening as I had put in a significant amount of effort into my contributions. I would appreciate it if there is any way to remedy this situation or if there are alternative rewards available for active contributors like myself.Additionally, I have noticed that despite having contributed over 4500 edits to Google Maps, I have not yet received the option to fact-check contributions. It is puzzling to me as I see others in my area, including my neighbor, who have received this option despite contributing less than I have. I am solely dedicated to improving the accuracy and reliability of information on Google Maps in my locality, and I believe that fact-checking would further empower me to do so effectively.Furthermore, I have amassed over 100 followers on Google Maps, indicating that my contributions are valued by the community. However, I am currently facing challenges in receiving adequate support from the Google Maps team.I kindly request your assistance in addressing these issues and providing guidance on how I can continue to contribute effectively to Google Maps. Your support in this matter would be greatly appreciated.Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.Warm regards, Hritik Rastogi

Hi @mahrkrishna

The term “The team” is normally used to describe the relevant Google staff. But Google staff will not engage with individuals as you requested.

On this forum, you can expect to get an answer from your peers. And if needed the Connect Moderators can escalate your issues to the Local Guides Team for further investigation. To be clear, I’m a volunteer and not an employee of Google.

Unfortunately, nothing can be done if your reward expired except hoping that another one will come your way in the future.

You could consider the free and updated Maps app a great reward.

If you expect rewards for your efforts then Local Guides isn’t the best place for you. We are all volunteers. We do what we do to help Maps Users and the community. If you get a reward then it’s a bonus, not a right.

There is no pattern and no fairness in who gets rewards. It is just a marketing gimmick.

My motivation is the joy of knowing that I’m helping a lot of people and businesses. Also, making new friends here on Connect can be considered a great perk. I find it very rewarding being a Local Guide.

You can learn more about perks by reading: Questions about Local Guides rewards. Also, Why be a local guide? is worth a read.

The rules for the fact-checking badges recently got adjusted making it a lot easier to get these badges. Please see https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/Highlights/We-heard-you-Fact-Finder-badge-criteria-updated/ba-p/3714382

Also, you might not have checked your Maps badges recently. You already hold the Master Fact Finder badge.

Getting followers does not entitle Local Guides to rewards or extra service.

Cheers
Morten
