I have no clue as to what is happening but all my photos are now showing as Unknown Place in my Contributions Photo tab.

Hi @AdamGT when this happen it means that the place where the photos were linked has been closed.
In this case the photos are visible to you only, flagged as private.
I was experiencing the same a couple of months ago. In my case the place (even if open) was flagged as closed, For this reason I wrote an Idea for being prompted for a check if a place where I have contributed is flagged as “closed”: Pop-Up for “fact checking” if you contributed to a place with photos / review

Some time it happened when you add a new place on map with photographs the place was not approved or added but your photos are visible on map with “Unkonwn Place” label
As I was adding a Surgical store on request of the store owner but I tried so many times but place was not added
Then I requested my friend to add this place with a different name after addition I renamed the place and added more photos but all photos that was uploaded by previous submits are live and labeled with Unkonwn place just some feets away
How I can connect or relocate all that photos on actual place

You cannot move the photos from a location to another @ZeeshanAKhan
You have to remove the photo that are related to an “unknown place”, then you have to upload your photos on the right location.
My personal suggestion for the future is: When you add a new place on Google Maps, add only the basic information:
- Name
- Category
- Address
add a photo of the storefront if prompted to do it

First search for the place, visit at photos section and tap + add blue icon and add your photos.

you can not relocate the photo
but you can add it again to its right location and delete the old one

Is the error that occurs in my tab in your contribution is temporary or is the problem known? The names of all places are marked as an unknown place

@ErmesT are you saying that all my review places are closed, every single one of them? I suggest that there is something else wrong! If I select:
- Contributions > Reviews > select a review I see that review and all its photos (all good)
- Contributions > Photos I see all photos marked as belonging to an Unkown Place

@AdamGT , I do apologize. From your previous post I understood that “some” of your photos were showing an “unknown place”
Also I see now some more report about the same subject, so it seems there is an issue about this visualization.
Can you please post a couple of screenshot. One of the unknown place, and the same photo under your reviews. As I dont have this issue, I would like to understand better

@Sova1981 unknown places means Google Maps can not reach till now this place and haven’t any information about this place. So, you can discover and create places of this place.

Ok, It seems to be a common issue, I have the same issue on desktop, while in mobile everything is OK @AdamGT
Are you having the issue on desktop or mobile?
I would suggest a database synchronization. Tagging @GeorgesHR for a check early tomorrow

All photos, and I added them more than 2,500 I added to existing places. At every place there is no name in the my contribution tab

Adding one more note. Clicking on the unknow place, a open the correct place, with his name @AdamGT
Can you try and confirm?
@Sova1981 don’t try to create missing Road. Because some regions haven’t permission

There is an issue that is affecting several Local Guides, mostly on desktop. If you click on the “unknown place” you will go to the correct Business listing, so it is probably just a database update

This is effecting all 1500 of my photos as well. I started to make a post about this issue and saw this one instead. As @ErmesT says, if you click on the link it does go to the correct place, which is good, but I do hope they fix the issue. I imagine it is probably some update, but I was shocked at first when I saw it. Thanks for making a post about this issue.

I always find the place I am uploading photos to by searching the name and verifying the address. Once this is complete, I find the blue “add photo” button and upload my photos this way. As a result, all my photos have been in the correct place and I haven’t had to delete and redo any of them. Hope this helps.

As @ErmesT has pointed, the issue is reflected in Desktop @Sova1981 . I am having the same issue, the mobile app is working fine.
Hey, I was looking at my uploaded photos of the web browser version of Maps, and for some reason all the images locations (which used to all be correct) are now displaying “Unknown Place”, and whenever I click on the images, and then the location, it sends me to Google Plus.
Does anyone know why this is appearing for me, (like does it have do to with Google Plus’ closure or something) and also how to fix this if possible.
