I have edited businesses before covid 19 around 2,309 globally. But google decided to add an ai mod in replace of real human. So any suggest edits I attempt to do is instanteous rejected or not accepted. I seriously doubt that a local guide would instantly reject a suggested edit unless they were blind. Because of the ai mod added by google. I can no longer contribute to google maps other than give reviews.
Hi @Bryan_Hix thank you for your great contribution to Google Maps. Yesterday I just shared tips when SUGGESTING EDIT on Google Maps. If you want, please read the following link https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t/pantang-menyerah-mengedit-titik-lokasi-di-google-maps/478152/
(Tips: use Google Translate since my post is in Bahasa Indonesia)
Hi Bryan, I notice a super strict “ai moderation” ~ enriched with ongoing cues to the policies ~ since about half a year, started probably in fall 2024. Almost nothing gets approved, it’s just annyoing and pure demotivation.
Especially the on top advising “why your edit was not approved” and linking to verbose bureaucratic policy texts makes you feel dumb.
Maybe one of the human mods can confirm the broken approval process.

Hello @Bryan_Hix and @makky,
I don’t believe the process is broken. It rather needs to get more and more strict because of the increasing cases of fake news.
However, if you are convinced your reviews were hidden without reason, you can fill out this form to submit an appeal. Also see here and other discussions on Connect for further information.
Hi Wilfried,
so the algorithm/ai is not smart enough to disctinct between real data and fake data, therefore I wrote “broken”. In German we say, das Kind wird mit dem Bade ausgeschüttet.
This thread is about edits and not comments/reviews. (see initial screenshot)
I can’t agree - maybe the algorithm is not perfect, but I edit places every day and most of them are accepted. Of course, there are places we can’t edit as local guides and any such attempt will end in failure.
hm.. interesting.. maybe the grade of restriction depends on the country you are active in ??
According to your profile you are located in Poland, so you do the edits in your home region i guess?
So i am active in Germany, mostly Cologne, whereas the TO is likely American.
Yes !! and instead of getting a clear notification about that fact, Google gives a shallow phrase like “everything seems ok with that POI”
So it would be helpful (and nice too) to get distinct informations about auto denial cases
once mentioned in this thread
(concerning POIs of protected categories like education, medical, financial, accomodation)
Yes, most of my approved edits are from my hometown and nearby towns, but I have no major problems accepting edits from towns far away from me (but located in my country)
Yes, that would be very helpful.
