Adding an area on Google Maps

Can anyone tell me how to add an area to Google Maps?

For example if I want to add a gated community to the Maps then it’s not a particular point it is located at but instead spread over an area. How do I add such places to Google Maps?

Areas can only be added by Google staff.

Adding private homes is not accepted. So if there is no public access, please forget about it.

By the way, such data issues are better dealt with in the Maps support forum.

Areas, or as you said, a gated community, are part of the geographical layer of Google Maps, @AnamikaN . In this sense a gated community is not different from a small village.

For adding a gathered community you have a couple of options:

  • report the issue in the Google Maps support Forum, as indicated by @MortenCopenhagen , providing a link to an "official (governative) map where the place is clearly represented.

  • Invite the authorities to partner with Google by submitting their own official map in Google Maps.
