Is there a provision now to add to the map a tourist attraction location such a water fall which, though somewhat popular is not in the map?
Hi @Goodsense
You’ve posted your question under the Travel topic however I suggest that if you move this to the How-tos topic you will likely get a better response to your question. It’s simple to do, just edit your post and select the How-tos topic.
Oh.Thanks…
Hello @Goodsense and welcome to Connect!
Thank you for reaching out. You can publicly add different kinds of places on Google Maps, like a landmark or a business to the map.
To add a missing place, follow the steps below:
- On your computer, open Google Maps.
- Search for an address.
- Click Add a missing place.
Please keep in mind that the edits that you have suggested might take some time to be updated on the map. Google may email you about the status of your edits and may forward you questions from other people who review your edits.
You can also check out this nice post about how to Add a missing place on Google Maps.
Please note that I’ve relabeled your post and it now appears in the How-tos section, which is specifically dedicated to any types of inquiries that Local Guides may have with the program. You can find more information about the different sections of Connect in the article What are the Connect topics?.
Sorry,no use.Such places do not come under any of the categories listed …I posted my question only after examining all these .
Hi @RadieN
You might have overlooked that waterfall is not an existing category on Google Maps.
Cheers
Forget water fall.Only buildings, shop and establishments are in the listed category.
@Goodsense and @RadieN there is a waterfall category.
There could be several reasons to your finding:
- Perhaps at some time there was a Waterfall category and now there isn’t, or
- This category may only be available in certain geographic regions.
What you could do is try adding a new plave, made up or otherwise, and see if the Waterfall category is available for selection. Let us know how you go.
I see what you mean, @AdamGT . The waterfall category used to exist in my region (the screenshot is in my region), but is no longer available. I tried typing waterfall in the category, but only found man-made items, such as water-related businesses and water parks.
In short the position is this:
1.In the map you can’t add anything except shops and buildings. For example you can’t add an area,a park,a lake,a playing ground,a water fall,a garden etc…
2.Even what is permitted ,can be added only if it is at a place/address which is already there in the map.
It appears that Google has intentionally done t****his as otherwise the map will be full of markings depending upon the individual’s
perception as to what is missing that requires addition.
Yes exactly what I suspected. So it’s no longer an available category @MicheleMarques and @Goodsense

BTW,is there any provision in this thread to post anything other than as a reply to a post?
@Goodsense , while that is mostly true, I did find Swimming Lake.
@Goodsense , I don’t really understand your question. A thread is always in response to a post. So, the options are to reply to the original post or to reply to one of the replies. To make your own post, you must go back to a category. Your post might start a thread.
My doubt was this:You want to post something in a general manner on seeing the replies/resonses to the original post.It is not a reply to any particular post. How do you do it?
I have seen that in many such discussion forum you can post something generally(ofcourse related to the subject) which need not be in reply to a particular post.
But here I did not find that provision.Google may consider.
