♿ #AccessibleBengal Kolkata : Nandan

Happy New Year 2021

This is another accessibility post but, the behind of the story is memorable.

On 26th December,2020 suddenly met with **West Bengal Local Guides (WBLG)**member Pritish Biswas ( @PritishB ) andBidur Chandra ( @BidurC ).

Then we talked about Quality Contribution on Maps and how we can improve Google Maps by providing relevant information.

Local Guide Pritish Biswas captured some pictures of Music Festival at Nandan in Kolkata.

Local Guide Bidur Chandra captured some pictures of Nandan area and uploaded to Google maps.

Collage No.1 and accessibility information:

1. Kolkata Information Center is wheelchair accessible to entry and wide gate available for relaxing entry.
2. Another exit way of Rabindra Sadan is not wheelchair accessible.
3. Ramp with handrail is available.
4. Main entry to Nandan area, ramp with handrail available.
5. Inside of Park beside of Nandan is wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair accessible entry way available.

Collage No.2 and accessibility information:

• Lake isn’t wheelchair accessible (to go and enjoy around the Lake).
• From main entrance (left side of entry) a way is available for disabled person.
• Paschim Banga Natya Akademi is wheelchair accessible and handrail available.
• West Bengal Bangla Academy is wheelchair accessible (ramp available) to entry.
• Another side of park a ramp available.

Collage No.3 and accessibility information:

• Entrance of Rabindra Sadan is wheelchair accessible and handrail available.
• Ramp available to entering Park.
• Drinking water area isn’t accessible by wheelchair.
• Fire alarm is existing at low level. So that everyone can able to reach on emergency (specially for wheelchaired person).
• Stage (when we visited then Music Festival was celebrating) is not wheelchair accessible for going to stage.

4. Kolkata Information Centre

Remark:

In Nandan area, ramps have handrails which is most important to wheelchair person.

This meet-up was a part of Accessibility for All Movement under Accessible Bengal.

Nandan is a place where we love to go & enjoy a movie . One of my favorite place ,though i use to travel long way to reach nandan but I love to go there. Very nice post written by Kalyan. I have seen every corner in the pictures & now I am very happy. Thanks for the post along with pictures
