Accessible Life is a project that aims to help all people explore nature and public spaces, regardless of their mobility, by allowing them to share these accessible locations via Google Earth - @ermest Everyone may contribute to Accessible Life by creating and sharing accessible outdoor spaces using Google My Maps
Contra Loma Regional Park is a 780-acre regional park in Contra Costa County, California. It is part of the East Bay Regional Parks system. includes an 80-acre reservoir.
There is parking fee of $5 at the park. However, there is free parking available near the entrance to the park as well. There is a 2.5 loop hike around the reservoir, you can enjoy the morning sunrise and the reflection on the water.
There is a huge public swimming pool also in the park, which is currently closed for the season, which will reopen in next spring. There is also a cafe, which is open when the pool is open, also there is a Volley Ball Court.
There are several picnic areas and parking lots in the park. There are several accessible parking and trails in the park
780 acres! That’s huge @jayasimha78 … It is just amazing that you have more than 6 places on Accessible life. It inspires me to contribute more too… Keep sharing more maps…
This place is incredible, @jayasimha78 , thanks for adding Contra Loma Regional park, now live in Accessible Life in Google Earth. You can see the park here.
Looks like this time you moved away from your previous contributions, in the opposite side of Mt. Diablo. I love that area and my hope is the future is to have time to explore it, so i am saving all this part with the hope of a future trip in the bay area.
I also found always interesting water reservoirs, and when I see them I am always looking for the dam and the hydroelectric station. Are they producing electricity in there?
Maybe not, because there is anything in maps.
Back to the park, I love the pathways in the hills. Are they steep, or easy to cross with a wheelchair?
@ErmesT Thank You! I just moved from Cupertino to Antioch a month back. Now I have new areas to explore and contribute to Google Maps and Connect. This park is now just a mile away from my new home. There is lot more to explore here. Hope to contribute more to Accessible Life project. Regarding pathways on hills, there are some which are not so steep, wheel chair friendly, however some are steep. Path around the Reservoir is reasonably flast hence wheel chair friendly. As you have suggested in the email I will add/update description.
especially is a pathway is steep, the user should be informed in advance.
My tip is to add also the pathways in My-Maps, as indicated in the contribution checklist, highlighting for each one the characteristics (tipe of road and slope of the path). This will make easy for everyone to choose if they can use that pathway
