Hi, I’m Jim Dean, a Level 7 Local Guide. I’m experiencing a persistent issue with my home address on Google Maps.
I have submitted corrections for my home address twice, which is in The Villages, FL. The first time in January 2025 and again on June 14, 2025. Both edits were marked as ‘Accepted’ in my contributions.
However, the live map still shows my address as ‘Sumterville, FL 33585’, which is incorrect. The correct city and zip code should be ‘The Villages, FL 32163’.
I’m not sure what else to do to get the city and zip code corrected. In fact, the city and zip codes are incorrect for all homes in the entire area that I live in.
Hi @JFD that sort of correction for a suburb boundary will need to come from an official source to Google. Even if your correction did update the record next time Google sync the data from the official source it will be overwritten. If you look up your property land title what does it show?
Hi @JFD
I just have got two basic ideas..maybe it could be useful
The first is to found another LG to edit it for you with the correct address informations ( I mean directly for The building on map)
And then the second idea is to delete these informations provided ( as being relocate your address) …
And I’ve read days ago that some issues could also be fixed by an update of the map’s app or restart your device…
Try them and please don’t forget to Inform us about it’s solving…
thanks!
To provide Google with the official borders for a zip code you need to be able to attach copyright free maps specifying the exact new borders. Then make a post in the Maps Support Forum Community and hope one of the volunteer Product Experts will help you escalate the issue to the relevant Google Team.
It can be a lot of work, but it has been done before.
I don’t know where you live, but in many places the local authorities will partner with Google Maps and regularly upload updated Maps which get approved automatically.
This is and alternative and often faster route if you would be able to figure out who in your local municipality are responsible for uploading geo data to Google Maps.
Or it could be the local/national postal service who provide the zip code Maps data to Google Maps.
If you get a Product Experts engaged they can likely guide you on all this.
Hi @NandKK how did your post add any value to the question posed by @JFD ? This sort of response is really just spam. Its nice to be welcoming but be genuine about it rather than using cut/paste responses that have no reference or response to the original post.
