A Spooky Season Treat @ Muddymug Studio 🏺 🎃

An animated illustration featuring a vibrant gradient background that transitions from a cool sky blue to a warm, sandy orange-yellow, showcasing playful, hand-drawn lettering that reads "Trick or Treat", "A Spooky Season Treat @ Muddymug Studio" in bouncing white and reddish-orange tones to celebrate the festive Halloween event.

Hy Local Guides, :jack_o_lantern:

Today is Trick or Treat Day 👻. When October :jack_o_lantern: rolls around, people think of scary costumes :woman_vampire:t3: and bags of candy :candy: when they hear "trick or treat”. For me, this season brought a far more rewarding treat - one shaped by hand, coated in clay :amphora: & gifted by a thoughtful friend who knows just how much I love exploring pottery studios, just like Kosava.

Instead of an ordinary weekend hangout, my friend treated me to a visit at Muddymug Studio :amphora:, a newly opened creative pottery space located along Sasthamangalam, Thiruvananthapuram, India. Founded by young ceramic & pottery artist Gauri, the studio proved to be a refreshing creative escape right in the heart of the city.

The studio gives off a cozy, plant-filled :potted_plant: atmosphere paired with a warm, welcoming vibe that immediately invites you to slow down and create. Gauri crafts food-safe tableware, decorative showcase ceramics & custom pieces while hosting guided hands-on pottery :funeral_urn: sessions and workshops.

Every piece in the studio reflects thoughtful craftsmanship, complete with in-house dip-glazing :splatter: facilities.

What makes the setup especially commendable is its eco-conscious focus :recycling_symbol:.

The studio utilizes a modern electric kiln :high_voltage: running on solar power alongside the main electric grid to keep firings sustainable, while also retaining traditional wood-firing :wood: methods for distinct textural finishes.

As Local Guides, visiting a new neighbourhood spot is always an opportunity to build digital visibility for independent entrepreneurs.

During the visit, I took time to refine and update the studio’s presence on Google Maps:

  • Enabling the “Identifies as women-owned” attribute :information_source:: Helped Gauri on enabling identifying attribute so local guides can easily discover and support women entrepreneurs on Google Maps.

  • Correcting the business category :label:: Adjusted category to Pottery Class to ensure it comes to the searches in Google Maps.

  • Confirming operational timings :hourglass_done:: Verified active studio hours (Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM; closed on Mondays).

  • Updating crucial place attributes :link:: Confirmed verified tags for wheelchair accessibility, dedicated parking :p_button: right out front, on-site restrooms, inclusivity (LGBTQ+ :rainbow_flag: friendly, kid & age-friendly) & payment methods (UPI and cash).

  • Writing a detailed review :writing_hand:t3:: Wrote a comprehensive review highlighting appointment policies, solar-assisted sustainable practices & studio offerings, earning +46 points for the contribution along with photos.

Has a friend surprised you with a treat to creative local workshop/community space or have you recently helped a new women-owned business update its presence on Google Maps? Share your favourite neighborhood finds in the comments below :backhand_index_pointing_down:t3:.
lets-celebrate
