A beautiful train journey through western ghats (hills)

The train journey from Goa to Mumbai through the Konkan region during monsoon is nothing short of magical. As the train winds its way along the Western Ghats, the world outside transforms into a living painting. Endless stretches of emerald greenery blanket the hills, clouds float lazily at eye level, and mist wraps itself around the mountains like a soft shawl.

In the early morning, the air feels fresh and untouched. The rising sun filters through dense forests, casting golden light over valleys and rivers. By evening, the sky turns dramatic — shades of grey and orange reflecting off wet landscapes, while the rhythmic sound of rain tapping against the window creates a quiet, almost meditative mood.

What makes this journey truly unforgettable are the countless natural waterfalls that suddenly appear along rocky cliffs, flowing with renewed life after the rains. They seem spontaneous, pure, and powerful — nature at its most generous.

There is something deeply therapeutic about watching this scenery unfold. The mountains, the rain, the greenery — they slow your thoughts and calm your senses. Sometimes I wish there were an open bus ride along this route, just to feel the mist, the wind, and the monsoon even more closely.
