7 Must-Eat Food in Bali

Best known for its surf worthy beaches and beautiful temples, Bali is also a foodie heaven where a culinary adventure awaits you!

From the traditional and authentic dishes to modern snack and fresh dessert, here are 7 foods I’ve tried in Bali and I’d like to recommend them to you:

1. Nasi Tumpeng Bali (Balinese Rice Cone)

If you happen to visit Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, then consider Jendela Bali The Panoramic Resto as your perfect dining place. Sit back and try their signature Nasi Bukit Jendela Bali, while you can enjoy the panoramic views of Bali’s coastline. Local food at its best! :+1: The dish features nasi tumpeng (cone-shaped rice), served with special Balinese side dishes such as shredded beef, chicken curry, grilled snapper, seafood satay, rolled omelette, and veggies.

2. Babi Guling (Suckling Pig)

Another signature dish in Bali is babi guling (suckling pig). Pak Malen serves one of the island’s best suckling pig, where a pig is well-seasoned with local herbs and spices before being roasted. Comprising of crispy pork skin, fried pork meat, pork sausage, and pork satay, Babi Guling Pak Malen is served with warm rice and sambal matah. The tender and juicy meat literally will mealt in your mouth!

:spiral_notepad: Visit them early as they get more crowded at lunch time and tend to sell out.

3. BBQ Pork Ribs

The fact that the Balinese love their pork very much, makes Bali a heaven for pork lovers. Wahaha BBQ Pork Ribs are absolutely delicious and a must-try! :+1: No wonder it became the best in town because the taste, the portion, and everything is so worth it! Such a perfect balance of sweet and savory, slightly charred on the outside and juicy on the inside, served hot with a choice of french fries or rice.

:spiral_notepad: Note that the pork ribs came in a big portion and can be shared between two to three people.

4. Crispy Pork Sambal Matah

Another mouth-watering place to eat pork goes to Warung Cahaya. Their deep fried pork with fresh sambal matah is very popular. Sambal matah or Balinese-style raw sambal is actually a spicy sauce made from fresh raw ingredients such as chillies, shallots, garlic, shrimp paste, lemongrass, lime leaves, salt, sugar, and vegetable oil. Along with the warm rice, every bite is addictive and spicylicious! :hot_pepper: :fire_engine:

5. Nasi Campur Bali (Balinese Mix Rice)

Make sure to try Nasi Ayam Kedewatan Ibu Mangku when visiting Ubud. Great option if you are looking for a good halal food. This restaurant serves only one menu, which is nasi ayam (chicken rice) and still uses the original legendary recipe since 1970s. It’s a plateful of warm rice with spicy chicken betutu, sate lilit (Balinese-style satay made from minced fish), peanuts, boiled egg, and veggies. Simple yet satisfying

:spiral_notepad: They offers lesehan (floor seating) area with peaceful atmosphere around Balinese traditional house.

6. Burger

If you are craving for a fantastic burger when you visit Bali, definitely consider BOSS MAN. Using only the best quality ingredients and 100% homemade sauces, BOSS MAN offers six signature burgers to choose from. Must try: The Al Capone. This burger features smoked bacon, smoked cheddar, grilled onions, a bone marrow emulsion, and house-smoked BBQ sauce. The delicious flavor will instantly explode in your mouth. Oh so yummy! :yum:

7. Gelato

When the warm temperature in Bali makes you crave for something cool, hit up Gusto Gelato & Caffe. The place is always packed with both locals and tourists who are looking for the goodness of gelato. They have so many unique flavors, over 25 to choose from! From sweet flavors such as hokey pokey, snickers, nougatine, to pretty exotic ones like temulawak, serai (lemongrass), kemangi (lemon basil), all 100% homemade from local ingredients with no preservatives and no colors.

:spiral_notepad: Don’t worry, you can taste the sample before deciding which flavors you want.

This post is specially dedicated to my sister @Velvel who is currently planning a trip to Bali, and of course to all Local Guides who put Bali on their travel bucket list :small_airplane: :earth_asia:

Whoa @Lusianaa this is awesome.

Thank you for this example of how a flawless post should look like.

My meal of choice is the Nasi Campur, which I’d say is the bit-of-everything dish. The best experience in my opinion is the buffet-style warungs that let you point to what you want to try.

Your photos are excellent, what camera did you use while taking them?

Keep it up. :]
