So happy to see these are all what I’m continuously doing. Mappin recycling centers and drop-offs is one of my most favorite tasks on Google Maps. I also take photos of such places and add sustainable info to many of my reviews.
I have also one request dear @TiffanyBnyc , Please ask Google to make the icon of recycling centers and recycling drop-offs completely visible on Google Maps (like for example Supermarkets icons) because this helps people to know and learn more about these places and will cause they use such places more and more.
Excellent news to have that new section in the features list @TiffanyBnyc - although I guess it is still being rolled out? When I chech business profiles over here (Belgium) I don’t see the Recycling section yet.
Since the addition of the category 'Recycling drop off location", I have been quite active myself in adding glass recycling locations to Maps, both in Belgium and also in Germany. In some cities they are mapped already (but often in need of some edits to make all entries consistent) but in quite a few others, they are still completely missing.
What I then also like to do after adding them, is to make a MyMaps map containing all of them, which can then e.g. be shared by the local authorities, An example is this MyMap of all locations in Bruges.
Wonderful post on sustainability on the Earth Day @TiffanyBnyc . Thank you for sharing the wonderful tips. I like the new feature on Maps too. I can update a lot of reviews that I posted earlier as well as some new ones.
Thank you for telling us about recycling attributes! I haven’t used them yet but I definitely want to try soon!
It’s great to see how many Local Guides have shared ideas and done work on Maps regarding sustainability too! Many Argentines as well thank you for sharing our posts!
Tiffany, actually I’m already updating recycling attributes on Google Maps, indeed a useful new feature to help us (Local Guides) to contribute a bit more with the environment.
@TiffanyBnyc This is such a good effort with all the negative news about climate change. We all need to do our small part in helping to keep planet Earth clean and habitable for future generations.
@TravellerG I have categories for “Recycling Center” and “Recycling drop-off location”. It may be called a different name in your local language setting. You may want to change your language setting to US English, add the location, then change back to your local language and see what the actual category name is locally. Try that and update.
Earth matters! It’s time we pull up our socks and do something. This planet earth is the only thing we can smile. Let’s all get together for the good of the environment
I enjoy nature and the creatures that live in it. We need each other, the need me and I need them to too. For example I am enjoying the shade from the scotching . Thanks to planet earth.
** @TiffanyBnyc thanks for sharing this great article. But I have three questions to ask:**
1. Firstly, most of the businesses listed on Google Maps don’t have some important functions; such as Edit Features.
2. My business co****lleague is into the “Solid Organic Water” recycling business but is not listed on the GMB yet. Here are my fears! How can she get her GMB verified because It’s not a task to take on in Nigeria, here?
3. Lastly, upcycling businesses are adding up in this part of the World and this also has a way to reduce environmental pollution. Is the Google Maps community also looking at optimizing these businesses for recognition and easy accessibility on Google?
I hope to receive feedback on my questions. Thanks!
