Today, I unlocked the Zippy Writer badge — awarded to Local Guides who have written 100 topics on Connect. It may just be a badge, but for me, it’s a reflection of something bigger: a journey of sharing, discovering, and connecting with people through stories.
Every post I’ve written—whether it’s about a hidden trail in Cambodia, it comes from the heart. I write because I believe in the power of local stories. Not every place needs to be famous to be meaningful. Sometimes, a quiet hill like Phnom Kla Kon, where legends turn into fitness spaces, is more potent than a top-rated tourist spot.
100 topics also mean 100 chances to inspire, educate, and connect with others worldwide. And I’m not stopping here.
To everyone who has read, commented, or shared your own stories with me—thank you. Let’s continue to help each other discover the world, one post at a time.
Thank you so much, @TusharSuradkar! Your kind words mean a lot to me. I truly appreciate the encouragement and support from the Connect community. I’ve learned a great deal by reading and following excellent Local Guides like you.
You asked why we wrote it and I told you. The world is not as clean as you think. I didn’t go into detail while writing here because it wouldn’t be nice to go into detail.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I understand that the world is not always perfect and that people have different experiences.
My intention with this post was to celebrate meaningful local stories and share the positive side of being part of this global community. I believe Local Guides Connect is a space where we can learn from one another through respectful, thoughtful, and inclusive conversations.
If anything I wrote came across the wrong way, I sincerely apologize. Let’s continue to keep this a safe and supportive space for everyone.
Thank you for your good will. As I said, my comment is as I wrote above. I would add more to my comment, but it would not be appropriate and the administrators would remove my comment. In fact, it is necessary to tell so that people can see the truth. There are rules here and we must respect the admins and moderators. I am always honest and say what is right.
Thank you again for your reply. I appreciate your understanding of the importance of respecting the community guidelines and moderators.
We may have different perspectives, but I believe conversations here are most impactful when they are rooted in respect, inclusion, and shared learning. That’s what makes Local Guides Connect so special.
Let’s continue to support each other in meaningful ways.
I absolutely agree with your point of view. I appreciate when Connect Moderators open topics on behalf of people with disabilities. It’s not just people telling their stories here. Various topics also arise here. We need to be aware of this. Thank you again for your understanding.
Not only here, but also on Google Maps, a lot of people comment every day. The aim here is to reach people. As a local guide here said before, they shouldn’t remove critical comments so people can make choices. I have forwarded this issue to Connect Moderators and Google officials many times.
It’s great to reach people around the world in your own language through Google. If a tourist coming from abroad to the country where I live understands the truth from my comments and makes her choice accordingly, it’s a done deal.
