Amsterdam Trip in August

Hey guys,

I'm planning my trip to Amsterdam. I have never been there before, although I lived there for a few years when I was younger. I'm all grown up now, and I live in the UK now. So my question is has anyone got any advise, or anything to add, maybe there's something I don't know. Any restaurant to recommend? Guide tours? Etc. Let me know I would truly appreciate thanks guys ❤️ x

Hello Nay,

Welcome to the Local Guides Connect forum 🙂

Holland in general is a great country and you will meet a lot of good people. Learning the language is not actually that hard either! Get on DuoLingo (its free) if you haven't started already!

Amsterdam has a lot to offer and you will be spending endless nights exploring the Heineken factory, wax museums, red light district, coffee shops, and much more.

One thing that I really enjoyed in Holland was the food. This really was the highlight for me! So be prepared to eat a lot.

I honestly don't remember the places I visited, but in general if you ask around, people will be willing to help you out! Just walking around the city you will be learning a lot of things on the way.

I just came across this forum which should be able to answer your question in regards to travelling to Amsterdam thanks to @IanFoster @LuisRG

Re: Amsterdam Trip in August

Hello.

Very nice you want to visit Holland. Amsterdam is a beautiful city. But at the time you lived in Amsterdam, it wasn't so expensive and crowded as now. It's even so crowded now in Amsterdam, it's becoming very dangerous for tourists and locals. I recommend you to sleep outside Amsterdam, even to be sure for a place at the hotel and for a friendly prize. City's like Leiden or The Hague are ideal. In 45 minutes you'll be with the train in Amsterdam. To go to good and cheap prized restaurant, i recommend you to go to The Hague. Nice prizes and the staff is more friendly over there than Amsterdam. Even the quality is much better. If you want to smoke weed you were better of in The Hague. Higher quality hash and weed, friendly staff, and much cheaper +/- 10 euro à gram. Where? At the Sea Heroes Quarter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfFnNBx3skw&t=8s. I hope it helped you. Enjoy your trip. Greetz.
