Traveling to Amsterdam in September

Hi All,

I'm traveling to Amsterdam for a 1 week conference in September.

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time for sight-seeing. What are the top 5 must see attractions in Amsterdam and top 5 restaurants?

Re: Traveling to Amsterdam in September

I know you mentioned you don't have that much time.

But back in May the Local Guides community in Amsterdam helped create a great My Map with the best places in the city: g.co/hiddenAmsterdam

We did 4 additional My Maps, but maybe with that one you'll have more than enough info to plan 🙂

You can consider visiting

-Rembrand museum

-Anne Frank Huis

-Rijksmuseum

-van Gogh museum (but it is rather small)

-canals by boat

The bike culture is strong in Amsterdam, but they dread when tourists ride as they often don't know where they are going and cause accidents. If you don't have time to bike to the countryside, I recommend checking out Oedipus Brewery and Tap Room. Great beers and a cool vibe.

@Corrie What beers do you recommend, there are many beers in that brewery.

Re: Traveling to Amsterdam in September

I'd say definitely go to:

Rijksmuseum

Vondelpark

Canal boat tour (of rent a pedalo and explore the canals yourself, it's great fun!)

Anne Frank house (Nowadays you have to book a time slot to enter so if you're interested to visit this place you should book in advance)

Also just wandering around near the canals is lovely.

Enjoy your stay!

I would definitely recommend taking the Free Tour (http://www.neweuropetours.eu/amsterdam/en/home). It lasts about 3 hours and you get to see and learn about the city in general with an awesome guide that may also help you further with what places you will like to visit!

EYE is unmissable. Sit anywhere and let the view overcome you. Perhaps also watch a film from the restauration catacombes of the film museum.

The architecture of this venue is remarkable, the entire building has a surreal atmosphere to it.
