Notification For Private Message In connect

Hi,

I had posted two more times(here and here) in connect about this issue. There is a notification icon in connect 2.0, which shows just notification from discussion in connect. Earlier in connect 1.0 there were combined notification for both(for discussions and private messages). Connect 2.0 is not showing any notification for private messages. We receive an email for every private message but it is not possible that we check our email every time. A private message will be unread until we click on our profile icon in connect. 

@ErmesT Can you please merge my both old thread with this idea or merge them with each other?

While @deepakjhic's idea is about receiving an email for private messages, unlike for message Notifications, the receipt of Private Messages is hidden when on desktop until you click on your profile picture on the top right corner as mentioned by @AngieYC and it is for the fact that it is hidden like this that I believe, as I see has been suggested by others including @TravellerG, that when viewed on desktop PC, it woud be an improvement if, like the Notification menu icon, the now hidden Private Message menu icon is also displayed. 

As shown in the first image below, currently the Private Message menu icon is hidden behind the profile picture and thus a Local Guide may not be aware that he/she has any Private Messages.  Hiding a menu item behind a profile picture like this is not a goodidea.  The second image shows the suggested better approach.

I'm posting on this topic again as I cannot see that this idea has been implemented.

Apologies for the previous confusion for the idea status set to implemented. As mentioned in this thread, we do have the option to check the private message by clicking on our profile photo on the top right corner. 

That said, we would like to thank you for your idea, but we did not manage to implement it in time. According to our Idea Exchange policies we are going to close your idea.

Local Guides can still vote and we can come back to this Idea at a later point.
