Meet-up Alerts for Local Guides

Local Guides come from all walks of life, most of us very enthusiastic about every bit of the program, but without the luxury of constantly checking the meet-up board to see what's being hosted near us. That's why I think we should get the option of signing up for meet-up notifications in our registered Local Guide locations, that way, when a meet-up is hosted by someone within so short a period, you simply get an  email message informing you about the hosted meet-up near your location and you decide if it fits into your calendar or not.

@sonnyNg   yes sir you are correct. For example I put Indore as my city. And most of from Indore are local guide. I want to organize meetup in my city whenever I put up meet up in Indore or something there should be send one mail or something to notify every Indore local guide that meetup is going on and the day and time will be updated . Thing how many will come to join the meetup.

Sorry if I am wrong but I thought that will be great way to gather the local Guides in huge amount .

Thank you so much for reply.

Hi,

Local guides is a great platform for global community to connect, share ideas and help each other. I think it will be simply awesome if I could get updates/pings/suggestions on local community events/meet ups etc on the basis of proximity to my current location.

That way people in nearby areas will participate more.

Thanks,

Sneha 🙂

Currently the meet up posts that appear on the feed are really irrelevant. I stay in Singapore and most of the meet ups are taking place in OTHER Countries. I won't be motivated to travel to India or Tibet for a random food crawl- I'm sure most of us won't except those residing in the aforementioned countries. Here's my screen grab of my meet up feed:

When I joined the community, one issue that I found that each time I had to and search if any meet-ups are being scheduled in my area or not. It would be great if we get monthly or scheduled mails or notifications when any of our fellow local guide is going to organise a meet-up in our area or if even when the meetup is virtual one.

My Idea : Need a notification or mail triggered if any meet-up of one's interest is taking place in one's region or virtually so that more people can attend and connect with each other.

For example, I am currently in London. If any of my fellow guides in London are hosting an  meet-up, if I get a notification then even I can join.

Or if there is a discussion on say 'Photography tricks and tips' and is happening virtually, as it is of my interest I would love to join if I came to know in advance via a mail/ notification. This will help us all connect better. If we plan better then we can surely conduct more meet-ups and have more people joining them!

Technical suggestion : We can create DLs** (Distribution Lists ) in emails and trigger mail whenever a meet-up is setup! (IT people like me are always in one or the other DLs 😛 )

Just an idea that came across my mind.. Let me know your thoughts too..

Thanks,

Isha.

P.S : **DLs are nothing but grouping people in one mailing list depending on their interests, regions, etc. A common term used in corporates !
