How to handle fake edits epidemic BY establishing weighted score to enforce edit-higher LG more vote

I am writing this after advice @GeorgesHR given in the LGconnect discussion about the epidemic of fake/joke edits on the google maps in Ukraine and some other Eastern European states and Central Asia.

This epidemic was covered multiple times by local press and media and seriously affects the reputation of Google as the company and the LGcommunity!

The main suggestion was to limit editing rights to LG with lower than level 8.

Provide editing right only to LGs with 8+,

and do not block or delete the numerous qualified edits done by highly ranked LGs in 'spam attack' as their work are being lost forever after this because of such rough approach to problem-solving.

Now after collecting feedback, there is My suggested solution:

I think some weighted score should be established.

for example, to enforce edit, place owner (manager, creator) need to approve it, OR 500 points (votes) from LGs needed to confirm this fact.

and Level 10 LG has 100 points, and level 1 -  only 1 point to contribute.

so we need 5 LG Lever10 to vote, or 500 Lever 1 LG to confirm the edit.

Some scoring system should be established what can become a part of a filtering algorithm which prevents fake edits and spam attempts.

I don't think a business owner should have "trump ability" to confirm/deny edits...as the community-sourced and validated info is intentional & integral for Google LG community.

...love the idea of weighted contributions though. Prove your value as an LG and your input will be considered valuable.

@Oleksandr

First, I edited several types of locations. I corrected serious mistakes in the U.K but also in Germany. I won't go into details.
I want you to clarify me in the following situation:

I visit a village and read his history.I can do this by driving myself to that village , which is like polluting the environment. or stand at home on the computer.
I decide to add as a location, the house where a musician, George Enescu, was born. The house is now a museum.
Then I add the village church.
Add the cultural center.
The village has a small population, few tourists but I do not think they are all registered in the Lg program to validate my locations.
Where do I get five hundred local guides to validate my locations? , which in fact are real and exist in the village I'm talking about.
By the way, I added the musician's house as a location this year, the people who visited the museum house put pictures and some reviews, then the location on the map disappeared.
Who is to blame for her removal?
Thanks in advance

Hi @iorikun301,

Thanks for reaching out! : ]

For the moment, on the first point for the wrongly named issue of the hospital, currently it is with the name RSUD Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang, (as suggested in the image below), it should be with the rightful name, correct?

As for the main idea itself, it happen to cover similar points being shared in another post, How to handle fake edits epidemic BY establishing weighted score to enforce edit-higher LG more vote.

Do feel free to check the remarks shared above, as you may also share your opinion on the matter.

Hi, @sonnyNg . Thank you for your attention.

Yes, the correct name is RSUD Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang as in the streetview photo. And the problem about this "hijacked" place/name is solved.

But my point in this suggestion is about give the limitation only to higher level of local guides that could edit name/other information about several important object/vital place like hospital, for example. Just like idea in the article you've shared above. I'm sorry for not checking this topic first because this was not just happened once.

Thank you for your attention:))

Hi @iorikun301,

Thanks for helping me clarifying! : ]

Kudos first of all for having checked to keep the information on Google Maps to be in order.

As for any further instances, that it may include a location with similar issue (as the case with the hospital RSUD Dr. Saiful Anwar Malang , do feel free to have it included as feedback to Google Maps, or you may also share with us (by mentioning one of the Moderators).

For the moment, as we have also mentioned about the other post with similar idea, I will have both of them relocated in one place, should that keep similar thoughts in one location for further convenience.
