Tyresö Palace (Swedish:Tyresö slott) is a 17th century palace in Tyresö, Stockholm County, Sweden, about 25 km south-east of central Stockholm. During the 1770s the palace was modernized and the first English garden in Sweden was created. Today Tyresö Palace is a museum. Accessible from central stockhom easily by bus.(Wiki)
Marquis Claes Lagergren purchased Tyresö Palace in 1892. Assisted by architect Isak Gustaf Clason, the Marquis rebuilt the palace in a national romantic style, inspired by original drawings from the 17th century. The Marquis wanted the palace kept as a living document of Swedish history, and after he died in 1930, he left Tyresö Palace to a museum foundation, the Nordic Museum (Swedish: Nordiska museet). Today the Nordic Museum owns the palace, which is open for guided tours during the summer.
A small cafe is available outside.
I visited this place in the summer of 2017. The tranditional cross called Midsommarstång(Maypole in English) had dried in the sun. A maypole is a tall wooden pole erected as a part of various European folk festivals, around which a maypole dance often takes place.
There is a beautiful lake beside the castle.
The view from the window of the castle into this lake is amazing.
On the way to this castle is an old church called Tyresö kyrka which means Tyresö church. The church has a brick exterior and built in a style of a mixture of gothic and renaissance with the tower facing west. It was built during 1638–1640. This church is on a hillock surrounded by meadows and lush trees.
I found this bird sitting on the roof of the church. Felt jealous. How lucky!. It can travel anywhere to get the best of views at no cost. The best traveller we all can aspire to be! 🙂
