Azhimala Siva Temple near Chowara, Thiruvananthapuram, picturesque with the tranquil yet erratic sea, and the revered Shiva Temple, is now the talk of the town

Luckily for me, due to the Lockdown restrictions, I was able to spend quality time here without any hassle and with the gentle breeze and drizzling rain the only thing that was missing was a hot cappuccino!

In majestic glory, a 58-ft-tall statue of Shiva as Gangadhareswara, with his windswept, tumultuous dreadlocks enclosing a triumphant Ganga, has been intricately sculpted on the premises of the Azhimala temple, adjacent to the sea. 

This is the country’s tallest statue of Shiva. Sculpted by Devadathan, a local resident, the concrete statue, mounted on a rock at an altitude of 20 ft from the sea,  invokes a magnificent grandeur and a sense of sacredness for devotees. 

Almost 20 kms from Thiruvananthapuram central, this has to be a must visit place in your Bucket list, while you are in Thiruvananthapuram.

Yep @BorrisS this was my first visit, even though the annual festival happens in Mid-january, This temple is flooded with tourists all through the year to see this magnificent sculpture.
