Look, we all know why the Goog gamified the Maps platform. Probably one of the best decisions Google ever made, was to humanize and curate the individual data points by utilizing the platform user base that is enthusiastic about continual improvement.
But with gamification comes metric comparison and analysis of statistics. While the local guide point system doesn't give measurable bearing on the quality of the data produced by the individual, it certainly gives perspective on individual data production.
So where is the public leader-board?
Is anyone else interested in racking and stacking your metrics against your peers?

Not necessarily and clearly not in the case of Maps, if Google had wanted to display a points leader board they would have done so. The fact that gamification can generate unintended behaviour is well understood, a leader board encouraging quantity over quality would be unhelpful to the overall Maps product

While there is no leaderboard for head to head PvP competition (lol!) you can actually see the total number of LGs at each level and by doing a little math you can see how much percentile of the LG population you have trumped 🙂

I want to know who the elite are.
The best of the best.
I want to see their work and emulate it.

Hi @imthemobileguru. No public leaderboard is currently available though other Local Guides have expressed interest in a leaderboard, too. I'm going to merge your feedback with that discussion. Thanks for sharing the feedback as the program is constantly evolving.

The link to see the total number of LGs at each level doesn't seem to work. Please repost.
