My idea is for Google Maps to consider using Green Location Pointers to indicate which shopping centres focus on implementing a greener approach to shopping and thus encouraging shoppers to think Green throughout the shopping visits!.
If Shopping Centres adhere to the following 5 points, they will be qualified to be marked out on Google Maps with a Special Colour Location pointer.
1. Plants displayed in a creative yet natural way around the shopping mall so that shoppers especially younger shoppers will think of having more plants around them, at home and to encourage them to discuss topics at school which make a school garden and taking home plants over the summer holidays a major aspect of school life, through shopping malls donating plants to schools.
2. Displaying posters showing the nearest nature and wildlife conservation areas and competitions for younger shoppers.
3. Displaying posters showing the nearest recycling, food and clothes banks.
4. Having events in the malls with guests from nature reserves giving a talk on nature and wildlife so that young shoppers will be encouraged to join at a reasonable subscription fee.
5. Encouraging nature and wildlife fetes and summer parties by offering to give prizes to the best paintings or craftwork in a young children's competition held locally with schools.
A Special Colour Location Pointer (with explanation given in the left hand column of the Map) will indicate that the shopping malls which adhere to the above points, are considered by Google as encouraging others to think Green.
I look forward to hearing what you think, Google team!
Thanks!
