Need a new connect kind of feature in the local guides platform!!

Hye guys, I want to push an idea about getting connected easily on the local guide platform. I recently started using it and saw many local guides with better levels and great posts which gave me a good knowledge of quality posting. So when I wanted to connect to them like we do on platforms like Instagram, FB, even G, I wasn't able to do so. Therefore, I think we should have a friend/follow/add kind of feature on the local guides platform to connect with each other easily.

Give a heads up, love if liked my idea.

Thanks.

Thank you for your idea, @RishabhBansal1! Did you try using the private message option? If it is not enough for you would you be so kind to share more details what features would you like to see after "adding a friend" on Connect?

I recently started using Local Guides Connect and am noticing certain Contributors whose posts I enjoy. I would like to follow them in the same way you can Like and Follow people on Facebook and Instagram, so their contributions are shown in my homepage feed.

These contributors might be a Google Moderator, someone from your country, someone who writes posts in your preferred language, or it could be anyone whose posts you enjoy eg they post a lot of articles on photography or food in your area.

Not only would this help to ensure you never miss their contributions, it could help if you have a hiatus away from the Internet (shock horror) and when you come back you want to catch up on your Local Guides besties. It could also form a new Kudos Badge on LGC eg 100 Followers Badge, 1000 Followers Badge and so on.

If you like this idea too click the Like button beneath this post. Thank you!

It could be the start to a whole new world of food critics.

Hi @HannahSpanna,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.

On the other hand, there is already an idea with the same direction as yours, Need a new connect kind of feature in the local guides platform!!

Follow up to that, I have moved your post there, as it would be more convenient.

@IrrPavlova i would like to see a feed in my homepage with posts my favorites have created, perhaps under the heading of My Community?? It might also be handy to be able to select whether or not to receive updates on posts they have commented on and / or liked. Although this latter idea could be overwhelming in volume, so it’s just my spit ball idea at this stage, will leave the experts to flesh it out. 😉

(I wonder if at some stage the currents feeds are consolidated into 1 feed like other social platforms where there is a stream of all the information users follow).

@sonnyNg thanks for redirecting this idea.

@sonnyNg I would just add that my idea was re-directed after @RishabhBansal1's idea was already closed so not sure if this idea was given much consideration?

To @IrrPavlova 's comment, for me it is not about necessarily connecting directly with the person through a direct message but about seeing their content, or content they have engaged with, in a homepage 'stream' or 'feed' like you get on other social networks so you can find the content that interests you quickly.

Hi @HannahSpanna,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

As mentioned, at @RishabhBansal1's convenience to provide further details, the post's status would be changed back.

During that timeline, other suggestions with the similar goal can be added freely. : ]

This concept of a more ‘social media’ / community type platform could also include the ability to share content. This could work if users had a homepage feed of content. At the moment a lot of articles, especially in the Ideas Exchange, simply get lost due to the volume that is being produced. So, for example, perhaps good Ideas are not being seen and therefore are not being voted on to the required numbers to get through to Google simply because they are not being seen, not because they are not good Ideas.

@sonnyNg

@RishabhBansal1 - jump back it with me details on your idea to help keep it alive!

Hi @HannahSpanna.

Those are really interesting observations!

We will try our best indeed to organize the ideas, as they are with such diversity and variety of opinions requires an engaging point of view.

The key is to have good examples and good ideas may stand out naturally. : ]
