Yushan, mother mountain of Taiwan

Today I want to introduce Yushan mountain to our dear local guides. Yushan is the highest mountain ( 3,952 m or 12,966 ft) in Taiwan. It is the sacred mountain for many aboriginal people who lived around the mountain. Because of its altitude, it is covered with snow during the winter and is always referred as the mother mountain of Taiwan. Yushan was selected as one of the National park of Taiwan and you need to apply for a permit if you want to climb up to the top or enter into protected area announced by the National park authority. Visitors who want to visit the park should reserve at least three days for the whole trip and it is advised that you may need to join a hiking tour or get a Yushan guide to enjoy the climbing and to guarantee safety. Yushan is good for climbing except during typhoon season. If you are lucky, you may have a chance to meet Formosa black bear or Formosa Sambar deer

which still inhabit and maintained their numbers due to our animal protection policy.
