"Your" Timeline

I’ve only recently been switched to on-device timelines, what a massive step backwards for Local Guides.

My Pixel 7 is always with me, my Chromebook stays at home most of the time. I have no problem gathering location data on my 7 but I used to use the Chromebook to type reviews, far easier than a screen phone.

Checked moments ago and under Contribute on my 7, it wants a review of somewhere I went this weekend. My Chromebook wants nothing.

How can they continue to call it Your Timeline when it’s This Device’s Timeline?

If anyone knows how to have the Chromebook prompting for reviews of places my 7’s been, please do let us know (unless it’s messing with backups in which case I’m not interested, it should be natural).

There is no easy way to have shared timeline between device. You probably should backup in first device and upload on another. But I don’t know if it possible for Chromebook

For me this change is huge step back.

They managed a shared timeline for years storing it in the cloud :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

And now, respecting your privacy, they changed cloud backup to local backup. I know there is a way to manually backup, but if you lost your device or your device broke, you lose your entire timeline.

It backs up to our Google drives, we all get at least the free 15GB. So both my devices are backing up to the same cloud account :frowning:
