In Nigeria, the act of volunteering service sounds foreign and perceived as for those who have more than enough to then be engaging in free work or offers. The possibilities of being taken for granted, seen as lower in the pyramid of things is very high because it’s just not fully understood.
The Local Guides program however changes that perspective and narrative because it gives the opportunity for social impact and community development.
So, this post is dedicated to all the Local Guides struggling with finding the zeal to keep mapping. To my fellow Nigerian Local Guides who are boosting our global presence with pictures, reviews and notations.
For everyday I read and learn about each of you, I feel that we have such amazing people in our midst. People who can easily be a lot of the change we need in our world - makes me indeed very happy.
To anyone who says you aren’t enough or aren’t doing anything worthwhile; just tell them - “I am a Local Guide and I help people know where to go and navigate how best to get there. That’s good enough.”
Good morning LG’s, remember YOU ARE ENOUGH!!
Keep making a difference!!
