Why is it not possible to write a review on somewhere from the google maps app? Only from within the site from the browser.

You can @monirkallas you go to the place while signed in on your phone and one of the options is to add a review. You find find details on how to do it at https://support.google.com/maps/answer/6230175 which covers all the major devices.

Hi @monirkallas

Can you please be more specific and share with us an example, with a link of a place and a screenshot from the App. In this way it will be possible to check the place and give you a more specific answer.

Also make sure that the place is exactly the same. in many cases people add a Business Listing in Maps because they want to add contents in a place where is not possible to do it, and sometimes we can be confused by the two places.

A classic example in my area is the worldwide famous St. mark square. In there you will find:

It is indeed possible from my side to write a review of the beautiful Citadel of Homs , both on desktop and mobile, so it can be an issue with your app, or some limitation made by the team according to the Location of the writer. This may happen time to time to prevent abuse, but in my opinion it is not the case.

Please make sure to have your Google Maps App updated to the last version, then:

  • Logout from Google Maps
  • Clear the cache in your device
  • Login again

This may help to clear the issue

Maybe because I live in Syria already, there are a lot of complications from Google on this area

The reason why you cannot write a review, is that you already wrote a review in the place one year ago.

My tip for you is to “edit your review” as the review seems to be violating the Maps User Contributed Content PolicyContributions must be based on real experiences and information” and your review appear to be identical to some online content, originally written in Wikipedia.

As I said already, not in all places is possible to write a review, @monirkallas , so please give us a valid example, if you want to receive a more specific answer, as the example given by you was not a valid one

Thanks @monirkallas , let me tag a Google Moderator, @Bobiisha , for a deepest check of your issue. Just to summarize:

  • When you visit the place in Google Maps, your review do not appear as “your review”, even if your review is publicly visible
  • When you click on mobile on the link that I have shared with you related to your review, you don’t see the three black dots, for editing the review

On the meantime, a few more questions:

  • Have you tried the procedure that I have indicated before, about checking to have the last version of the App and clearing cache?
  • Are you able to see your photos and videos in the “by you” tab of the photos of the place?

Also please keep in mind that everything you uploaded in violation of the rules must be removed ASAP

Thank you Mr. @ErmesT @ for trying to help me, but I am completely sure that there is no solution to this problem now because the problem is not in my account, which made me sure that I tried to comment from another phone and from another account entirely and this problem still exists, the cause of the problem is actually It is the country in which I live, and we are used to a total or partial ban from some large companies, including Google, thank you again
