Worry Dolls - Worried? Leave it to the dolls!

Have you got any worries? Leave it to the dolls!

According to Latinamerican Folklore (more specifically Guatemala’s tradition), if you are worried about something, you can ask the worry dolls for help. These dolls (according to the Mayan culture), take your worries away while you sleep. The legend says that Ixmucané (the corn Goddess) reincarnated in tiny worry dolls (1 inch long, although larger dolls have become more common).

Here’s how it works:

Before you go to sleep, you tell your worries to the dolls (one worry per doll) and you say the following afterward “Los muñecos quitapenas quitan las penas que tengo*. Debajo de mi almohada duermen siempre mis muñecos y si tengo alguna pena yo sin ella me despierto.”* This is in Spanish because I’m not sure they speak English. After this is done, you place it under your pillow and go to sleep. The dolls will take care of your worries while you rest. According to the belief, you need one doll per weekday (except Sundays, even dolls need to rest).

I hope this tip is useful for you
