World Refugee Day: a day which we cannot celebrate with joy

Today is World Refugee Day, a sad day for the entire human civilization. Refugees are also human being but they are displaced from their home, from their country. The main cause of becoming a refugee from a citizen is the war/civil war. Government oppression sometimes uprooted people and make them refugees. Though are a human being like you and me but they don’t have the lives as we have. They have limited freedom to move, no or limited access to education, shortage of foods, medicines, and other life-saving essentials are the part and parcels of their life. They lead a sub-human life.

[A Rohingya refugee camp in Bangladesh]

The world now has more than 200.5 million refugees in various countries out of which we have more than in 1 million Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is not a very big country and it is already overpopulated. So the huge numbers of refugees have created tremendous pressure on our socioeconomic sector, our environment, and other limited resources. 1971, during our war of liberation, more than 100 million people fled to India and led a life of a refugee for 9 months. We are always grateful to India for the support they provided to our liberation war and to our people who migrated then. Though we are trying our best we cannot go beyond our capacity.

It is the responsibility of the world’s superpower to bring an end to this human suffering. Sometimes we can see that powerful countries are supporting the government of a country which is oppressing its own citizen and making them refugees. And for this support, this has become an endless crisis in the world now. We must join our hands together and raise our voice in favor of the refugees so that they can return to their homes so that their children can play and study as our own children do. We must create pressure one our governments so that they do not support any countries responsible for making refuges. All of us must feel the pain of how a refugee life is. It is time to act.

Every day some people are becoming refugees here and there one earth @MAHBUB_HYDER . We should feel their pain as they are also human beings like us. You are from Chittagong and you have a better idea and experience than me as the Rohingya refugee camps are situated in Cox’s Bazaar, close to Chittagong. See the third photo in my post, how innocent those children are but what a painful life they are spending in the camp.

Anyway, thanks for your nice comments and appreciation. Stay safe.
