World Enviornment Day 2026 - Sustainability - Small Actions, Big Impact!

Hello and Greetings Everyone!

Hope this post finds everyone well!

Today is “World Enviornment Day”, this year theme is “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future,”.

So, here I am with this post to celebrate enviornment day with prime focus on sustainability and with the creativity punch!

From 2023, I have been making newspaper and cardboard based handmade products, the thought is simple : Repurpose, Recycle and Reuse but with the punch of creativity. I am sure you will love them. Finger Crossed! Lets explore:

  1. Pen stand: is made from rolls of newspaper and later I covered it with jute thread to give a earthy feel and view.

  1. Tea Cosaters : I rolled all the newspapers rolls in one big circle and covered it with jute threads.

  1. Big Tea Coaster or a you can say big plate: I rolled all the newspapers and attach them together and moulded them to circle shape, and then covered it with jute threads:

  1. Plate with curved edges: the base is newpaper and then covered it with paper threads. I usally keep my fashion jewelry on it.

  1. Fabric Covered Big Plate : I attached all the rolls of the newspaper and then convered with it cotton fabric to give that elegant view.

  1. Circular Plate or big Tea Coaster - newspaper based, this time I painted the outer and then varnished it to lock the acryclic colors.

  1. Bowl with its covering lid: newspaper based and then I moulded all together to give it a bowl shaped and then made Lid for it. I colored it and then varnished it.

  1. Another Pen Stand : Newspaper based and then covered it with jute threads.

  1. Sustainable Bookmarks : they are made from newspaper and carboards, then I gave them little more creativity, using leftover stickers with me. This has been loved by all at the exhibitions.

  1. Plastic Bottles repurpsed to beautiful decors: I used all sustainable products to add creativity to them.

  1. Glass Bottles Repurposed:

  1. Sustainable Wall hanging - Newspaper based and the convered it with macrame cotton thread.

So, below is my first stall and the only stall which promoted sustainability in 2023, in one of the food and shopping exhibition. The journey continues…

What all I have been doing when it comes to enviornment and sustainability:

  1. I collaborated wiith NGO to grow trees in different parts of India.
  2. I promote sustainaility and enviornment everyday and also through stall installtions in exhibitions I have participated in 8 exhibitions till today.
  3. I collaborated with the glass upcycling brand in India, where in I donated around 40 glass bottles for upcycling.
  4. I keep on trying new sustainable ideas and add them to my sustainable products. For me, selling the product is not important but reaching to audience is more important.
  5. I collaborated with fashion brand and worked as a reseller to resale of sold out products and promoted the repurpose and reuse of used products.

The sustainable journey continues…

I would love to know what you all think! Which one is your favorite handmade product? Everyone’s views would surely motivate me!

Happy to tag my mentors and seniors!

This is very exciting, @AnubhaBangia.
After a long time, isn’t it? How are you? Where have you been? Are you still in Delhi? Let me know please.

Cheers!

This is truly inspiring, @AnubhaBangia!
Your creativity in turning simple materials like newspapers and bottles into such beautiful and useful products perfectly reflects the idea of “Small Actions, Big Impact.”

I especially loved the newspaper coasters and the sustainable bookmarks—such thoughtful and practical ideas! :seedling:

As a Local Guide, I try to contribute by promoting sustainability through my Maps contributions—highlighting eco-friendly places, adding useful information like rinking water fountain, use of solar energy and also organizing SDG-focused meetups to spread awareness.

Your work is a great reminder that sustainability can be creative, practical, and impactful at the same time. Keep inspiring! :raising_hands:

I really liked how you highlighted that small actions can create a big collective impact. Thanks for sharing this inspiring message for World Environment Day 2026! :globe_showing_europe_africa::green_heart: @AnubhaBangia
