World Elephant day in Ivory Coast

@TusharSuradkar

Like I mentioned in a comment earlier on,this post is in support of your post in celebration of the world Elephant day. Happy world Elephant day to our colleagues in Asia and all local guides at large.

I understand that in India especially,Elephants are special creatures that exhibit lots of special human characteristics. For us in west Africa they are only found in the zoo and in some rare cases in deep forests in the wild. As a missionary,I have often travelled and explored different countries. Ivory Coast is one of those countries. That’s where I saw an elephant for the first time in a zoo. That’s where I got that shot of the elephant. I couldn’t go near it because I was afraid it will grab me with it’s trunk. Lol

Funfacts about Elephant and Ivory Coast

  1. There were lots of Elephants which were hunted by human for food in the early years of Ivory Coast
  2. The country got it’s name from its trading Elephants tusk or Ivory.
  3. The country’s football team is called The Elephants

That’s all I can write and I hope you like it. Happy world Elephant day again.

Happy guiding

Cheers

@SholaIB

Thank you for the insightful post @SholaIB in response to my post on International Elephant Day.

I greatly appreciate you highlighting the elephants in western Africa.

I am utterly surprised to know that the home of elephants is left with no more of this beautiful species.

and that they are seen only in a Zoo.

Let’s hope our posts and responses help the cause of saving the elephants :elephant:
