Government Botanical Garden
It is a state-run garden located in Ooty - contributing immensely to the tourism sector of the city. This garden is as old as about late nineteenth century and it is said that initially, it was built solely for the purpose of farming vegetables.
Since this garden was developed during colonial period, you can see the structures inside according to British architecture.
Now, the garden acts as a resource for Botanical laboratories situated near it. The soil of this garden is very fertile (as it is present at the downhills of Nilgiri mountains) and produces some of the best herbs, which are further used in the manufacture of medicines.
The whole garden is now divided into different parts like Italian Garden, Japanese Garden, Fern House, Glass House, Foliage Garden, etc.
Last month I visited Ooty and so, got the chance to visit this garden too. It was truly amazing and a perfect place to spend time with friends and family. Here are some of the pictures I took there.
