Hello, Local Guides! ![]()
Continuing our Women & Allied Series, today we’re excited to introduce Rosy, a passionate Level 9 Local Guide from India.
Rosy has been making an impact by contributing to Google Maps, sharing her experiences, and supporting her community in meaningful ways. She is a very kind and honest person and her qualities as a good teacher reflect into being a Local Guide too ! She is always very passionate about helping others through Connect and through Maps! She loves connecting with people over meet-ups and loves helping the community in her own ways ! She is one of the most selfless Local Guides I have met and she inspires everyone around to be kind and help others ! Let’s get to know her! Here is a candid Rendezvous with @RosyKohli !
Can you tell us a little about yourself and your journey as a Local Guide?
[Rosy]: I have always loved helping people by recommending good places through word of mouth. Google Maps allows me to share my experiences on a global scale, helping many more people make informed decisions. Seeing my reviews, photos, and videos assist others gives me immense joy and motivation to continue contributing.
I try my best to help people when they share their problems. I helped a student overcome drug addiction. I became a “Masi Ma” (mother like) figure to my Dhobi son Vivek, after he lost his mom, supporting his education from failure to engineering. Grateful for Waheguru’s blessings and the "Divine souls "around me who helped him paying his fees & giving him laptop.
What inspires you to be a Local Guide?
[Rosy]: I believe God has sent me into this world to help people, and that brings me true happiness. My mother and Sikh values taught me to pray for others before myself, as true happiness lies in collective well-being. I believe that what is destined for us will come—there’s no need for jealousy. Seeing others grow makes me happy, and I trust that when we celebrate others’ success, blessings return to us many times over.
What’s your favorite feature of Google Maps?
[Rosy]: I love using the report feature to update road conditions, especially in India, where many roads are under construction. So that it helps users during peak hours or in emergency. Food reviews with photos and videos are also my favorite, as I’m a foodie who values taste over decor. I believe when people pay for food, they should get good quality and value for money. Accessibility information is another crucial feature I use to help people find inclusive places. The ability to share videos now makes reviews more engaging and helpful. Every sincere contribution I make on Google Maps feels like a meaningful way to assist others.
What message would you give to other Women Local Guides or anyone considering joining our Local Guides program ?
[Rosy]: To all our fellow women Local Guides and beyond—remember, we are born with incredible strength. We juggle multiple roles with grace, and when faced with challenges, we rise even stronger. Keep shining, inspiring, and making a difference !
