A woman in New Zealand has been banned from her local cafe for writing a 3 star review New Zealand Herald article
It is a shame because the lady did write a good review of the reason she did rate it 3 stars. The cafe has gone too far in banning her. The cafe concerned is now being bombarded with negative reviews because of the news article.
Her reviews is with the subsequent reply from the owner.
The cafe owner’s reply would have been appropriate, but they have gone too far in banning the reviewer and has got bad publicity because of what they have done.
I just wanted to let you know that I removed the link to the review mentioned as we do not encourage Local Guides to share private information publicly on Connect in order to protect everyone’s privacy and safety.
While the cafe did wrong, the cafe should apply for GMB protection @TheEagleEye anyone leaving false reviews is likely to face a premature end to their Local Guides career.
In my opinion, to prevent something like this (banned from a cafe because of a three-star review, etc.) happened again in the future, Google, as higher authority than Local Guides, must educate more to business owner about how Google Maps (review, etc.) works.
Because Local Guides are only volunteers, users, that were not official representatives of Google.
As long as they’ve claimed their Maps entry there is a world of support available to businesses via Google My Business. If they’re getting spammed they can apply to have their business suspended for reviews temporarily until the furore dies down @AdamGT
