Winter in Europe means the end of the raining season on the Philippines where I had the opportunity to explore one of the best places on Earth (my opinion). There are only a few places where human influence has not effected the nature and Palawan is certainly one of them. We decided to go away from the capital Puerto Princesa where all the craziness is and stayed north of the island in the small village El Nido.
There are so many things to see and activities to do here that couple of weeks time is certainly not enough. I would highly recommend renting a small boat and doing all the possible Island Hopping trips.
Despite being so close to each other, all the islands and beaches tend to be very different. My personal highlights were the Small/Big Lagoons, Cathedral Cave and last but not least every cliff you can stop the boat at and go snorkeling or diving with sharks ( I regret not doing that) as the underwater is equally amazing.Palawan itself can offer some of the best views on this Planet. Long Beach is by far my most favorite beach ever. There are no tourists, no shops, bars, restaurants, pollution and all the annoying stuff we are used to. It is simply five kilometers of pure water, gold sands and palm trees where you can hang a hammock and relax. When it gets too hot, you can get a local guide to lead you to some hidden waterfalls where the water is way cooler and temperatures are bearable. I am a food tourist and having a great meal in-between enjoying a new place is a must. Philippines din’t disappoint here. The fruits and the seafood are really fresh and delicious everywhere. We had really cool octopus salads while on the island hopping trips. More, you can try something from the local specialties such as water buffalo with rice or sizzling crocodile.
Where I should go next? It is freezing here?
