Hi everyone, I will be in Tokyo this Friday to Sunday for a (long) layover on my way to Jakarta to start my winter break. Would love some recommendations for cool things to do. I’ve been to Tokyo for quite a few times in the past, so not particularly interested in the touristy stuff. I’m more interested if there’s some cool events going on, like festivals, exhibition, food show, or things like that. My interest is geeky stuff (so will definitely visit Akihabara) and food (of course :p). I booked a hotel in Ginza so will spend some time exploring the area as well.
Also if you’re based in Tokyo, or happened to be in Tokyo during this time… would love to meet you in person if you have time. Maybe we can do an informal, mini meetup or something. Or just to grab coffee. I’ll be bringing a few Local Guides stickers as well for share (I always bring some whenever I travel just in case I meet other Local Guides).
Hi @MasaruKamikura thanks for replying. I actually just landed in Haneda a few hours ago , and now resting for a bit in the hotel. I can definitely meet you tomorrow if you’re available, if it’s not too much trouble.

I’m actually staying at Ginza - Courtyard Marriot right now. Thinking of waking up early to line up for Sushi Dai or Daiwa tomorrow morning, do you think it’s worth it?

Sorry for not responding sooner. I limited my time on the internet on the internet, and it seems I missed your post. I’m glad I was able to meet you during my short trip to Tokyo though. That retro gaming place that you take me too was so amazing!
I was in Tokyo in 1987 so i cant remember very much but you can go eat at Mcdonalds in downtown Tokyo. Have fun i wish i could go back to Okinawa and Tokyo i had a lot of fun when i was there. Korea was really cool too.
