Why you should visit Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct while in Colombo!

The Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct is one of the best shopping areas to get a true flavor of what encompasses being a Srilankan! The Precinct is actually based in a repurposed 17th century dutch hospital. The buildings are in very good condition and have been restored very well. The architecture is striking and charming.

The Precinct is a mixture of restaurants, bars as well and popular band shops and organic product shops. The environment is very laid back and relaxed. I personally loved exploring the shops and restaurants. The shops are a bit upscale and so are the restaurants and bars.

The place becomes really lively during the evening when there is live band music. It’s a great place for hanging out after work hours and draws in a large crowd even on weekdays.

It’s definitely not a place to miss during any visit to Colombo.

This looks quite interesting @sarfaraz_hyder_bd it is great when old buildings are repurposed and reused at the end of their useful life rather than being knocked down. The combination of modern and old makes a great setting. What was your favourite food here?

I had lunch at the Ministry of Crab… Was a tad disappointed with the food taste vs pricing though… tried out their prawns as I’m not that big a crab fan… Walked away feeling that the Ministry is a bit overhyped!
