Ever since connect has evolved i have seen great people who help community day in and day out being promoted as connect moderators , it is their commitment and time they take in to put here in connect to make things look good for others made them deserve it .
But i always wonder why there isn’t a single connect moderator from India even though there are a huge number of local guides when compared to any part of the world .
I understand that connect moderators work is irrespective of their nation but still when some one asks me in any meetup we have about why there isn’t a single moderator from India i am answer less .
As you and I are aware, this is one question that is asked/discussed in all meet ups @NarenChandra , I am sure this is something @TraciC will think about as well!
Even though there is officially no country wise breakup provided, I am pretty sure that India has more Local guides than any other country😃
@NarenChandra thanks for bringing this up man…I feel the same way and think they must have someone in the team from India who can connect with our national language ‘Hindi’ as well. I’m sure Google would be considering it at backend too as Indians are one of the major contributors here.
Hello @NarenChandra thanks for raising the query related to the moderators from India.
As @AslamMo mention in his comment, there are various LG from India and some of them are highly contributors on maps. Google has to give a chance to India and select a knowledgeable person which they can appoint as Moderator.
I also support this idea, but I fear we can see any result here - May be in IDEAS forum, this is to be tried, I think - to bring to the Google’s attention/notice
Thanks for the responses @TravellerG@Midhunnileshwar@IshantHP_ig@Niyas744@NareshDarji , connect moderator is a very big responsibility so google might be having a though of giving a Indian local guide that responsibility , lets see what happens . but it will be great if there is a representative from India .
As you may know, Local Guides are invited to moderate Local Guides Connect, side by side with Google Moderators. The invitation is sent according to the contributions in this Community, not to a geographical distribution in the world.
Interested in becoming a moderator for Local Guides Connect? Here’s what we’re looking for:
Local Guides Level 5+ who actively contribute to Google Maps and Local Guides Connect
Friendly and respectful community members who help keep Connect a warm, welcoming and informative place with their knowledge, accuracy and tone
There is no application or nomination process. Keep contributing and engaging with your fellow Local Guides and the Local Guides team will be in touch if you are selected.
On I side note, I would like to invite everyone to tag only Googler that are listed on the Meet the Google Moderators post, avoiding to tag Googlers like Traci, as she is not a moderator
Thanks @ErmesT , i understand that a connect moderator is selected as a community moderator as a active and helpful con contributor in connect instead of geography , but i just raised this because in meetups i am answer less when some other local guide ask me this question , they say that there isn’t a connect moderator who speaks Indian local language .
other than that total respect to every one and google rules .
Hi @NarenChandra in addition to what @ErmesT has said, for those asking you in your Meetup why there isn’t a connect moderator from India, you may refer them to the official post here were Tracic talked about the selection criteria of been a connect moderator. You have to make them understand it is Local Guides who are Level 5+ and they actively contribute to Google Maps and Local Guides Connect, They are also friendly and respectful community members who try to make connect a more welcoming place for all. They also share their knowledge providing useful and accurate information here on connect. You have to let them know these are the qualities for the selection process and that it has nothing to do with numbers, nationality or race.
Hi @NarenChandra , I’m sorry for reaching you late. I do agree with @HelloSamsonR and @ErmesT . This thread is better fit in idea section, if you consider.
