Bibi Ka Maqbara – History

Bibi Ka Maqbara was built by Prince Azam Shah, son of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, between 1660–1661 and completed in 1678.

It was constructed in memory of his mother Dilras Banu Begum, which is why it is lovingly called “The Taj of the Deccan.”

Why It Was Built

Dilras Banu Begum, Aurangzeb’s first and most beloved wife, passed away after childbirth. To keep her memory alive forever, Azam Shah built this beautiful mausoleum.
