While creating list on Google maps some places like restaurants , Hotels or other places can’t add on Google maps.

Can you explain better what you mean @Mohan_Singh ?

Are you finding difficult to add the place on the list, or in Google Maps?

Create a list of places will explain to you how to create a list. Of course, you can add in your list only places (listing) that are already in Google Maps.

If the place is not in Google Maps, please check Add a missing place to the map

Hello @Mohan_Singh

I guess p possibly you are trying to edit some existing list to add a new place. Here, you need entering the exact name and you may be finding that difficult. Further, the select on Maps option works in some bizarre manner.

Instead of that, you select the specific place first, then click on the save symbol. Maps will prompt you by displaying all the existing list. Select the appropriate one and save. The place will get inserted in your existing list.

BTW I scanned all the hotels and restaurants in your region and couldn’t locate any without the save option.

As a matter of fact, a place can be uneditable, even then, it’s possible to include that in a list.

But search place on Google maps when I click add the message read ‘this place can’t add.’ Although it is not in my list.

Hello @Mohan_Singh

Even if I select a place existing in a list, there is no error message. Maps neither flashes any message nor duplicates the place.

I can add places even while offline (for the region around me which appears as an offline map)

If the place is not in offline maps, the message is simple “Can’t connect”.

Thus, I could not repeat a scenario in which the app displays a message “Can’t add”.

There is a limit five hundred entries in a list. However, adding one more place will delete the oldest one in a FIFO manner. Again there would not be any error message.

I suggest, please carry out following troubleshooting steps.

  1. Clear browsing history, cookies, Cached data etc.

  2. Update the browser or the Maps app.

  3. Restart the device & then try to add the place.

There is a message, place can’t be added, pops up when someone only tries to add a place is not in google maps. I guess he tries to add a place he searched for before, and this place is not in google maps. This screenshot would explain:

The already on Google maps I have visited and reviewed the place ,yet can’t add message pops up.

I guess you are having difficulty in sharing a screenshot or a Maps link to the place.

If it is so, you can share the complete name along with the address if possible or at least the name of the city or village where the place is situated.

If you can do that, it will help to know the exact nature of the problem.

Today, I tried to include some closed places also in one of my lists. However, Maps accepted that inclusion.

Nevertheless, I was able to replicate your problem at last.

I chose a place but misspelt that intentionally. Then the search symbol appeared in the list. I clicked that hoping to get the proper place and here Maps displayed the error message “Can’t add this place” i.e. the same one visible to you. See the screenshot below.

Conclusion, to add a place

  1. Either, you should know the exact name. (Copy that and paste in the edit text box.

  2. If you use the search box, you need selecting the one appearing as suggestions in the list below. Click on the lens will produce the result as above and that is sure to happen if you misspell.

  3. Or, click on that place and select the save symbol.

Search will not work. Select place on the map will add coordinates only and not any exact place.

Hope with this your problem comes to a resolution.
