My first ever contribution was a photo review on Google Maps. It was for the then newly-opened halal restaurant Hararu Izakaya. My friends and I might’ve gotten in on either the second or third day since they opened. Located in a shophouse, it had a beautiful interior space which I just felt an impulse to share. It was possibly instagram-worthy, but that didn’t feel right. I wanted other people to see and also want to visit, it needed a portal more informational than simply being visual porn. This started my string of contributions on Google Maps.
My most viewed photograph was, and still is, for a branch store of Tsuta Ramen, a michelin-starred eatery from Japan. Taken on the spur of the moment as I was walking out, it was a simple photograph of the shop’s compact layout. It was more than a pretty photo.
