Why I love Photography

My passion for photography started early during my school life at Morogoro town in Tanzania. In 1967 while I was about completing my primary education, on a particular day that I don’t recall the date, I went to the SURF detergent promotion run by Andrews Crawford Promotion held at Kikundi Primary school football ground and fortunately during the lucky draws done by the promoters I won the first prize – money, and with this money I was able to buy my first camera – a Kodak, and thus fulfilled my long term desire for photographing. Most of pictures I took with my camera at that time were black and white as colored films were not available in Tanzania. As time passed, my interest in photography grew.

I don’t subscribe to a particular interest of what kind of photo to shoot, usually I take a shot of what appeal in my eyes to be convincing to be a nice photo for myself and community at large. As such my photo library includes different themes such as nature, events, life, unique places, landscape, and moment in time pictures, both photos and movies. I have possession of different cameras in my kit bag and always the kit is stored in my car or close to wherever I am, so that whenever a need arise for taking a shot my cameras should be handy.

Taking pictures is one aspect and sharing it publicly is another. One unique thing about photography is that when taking the shot only few people around you might notice your actions – photographing, but community at large elsewhere will not see what you have seen unless you share your pictures publicly. The interest that compelled me to take the picture through sharing the picture might stimulate other people’s interest to seek more information or visit the sight of the photograph.

In all my travels both local and international I normally take pictures of interesting scenes, that I have seen, think, believe and love to share the pictures in the Google map and other web sites whichever is appropriate to the picture I have taken for my viewers. I love to share the photos in the Google map bearing in mind it is another way of assisting anybody reviewing the map to have more information about the place. Also I love to review places that I have visited, in the Google map so that other interested people in the world will know the services available in those places. My expectation is that this post will entice Google Local Guides and others to develop passion for photographing and sharing what they photography.
