Google Maps is a fabulous application by Google as travelling have never been easier.
Personally, I am not good with directions and finds it difficult to remember directions to a place, imagining travelling without maps is kind of terrifying for me.
Google maps helps me a lot in this aspect and for that reason I do my best to help improve maps for my sake and for others as if everyone contributes to the local guide community then there cannot be any better mapping system which stays up to date and precise.
I love sharing about places I visit, especially places like eateries and other businesses. By doing so, not only I am helping people make a sound judgement regarding that place but also providing a valuable feedback to the business for free which will help them improve and grow.
Also, if I visit any historical place or any place of importance then I always takes pictures and share them, in the hope of motivating travelers to visit that place and increase tourism which helps the local population and maybe increase tourism in my country if the foreigners likes what they see.
Personal Life Story
A few years back I found a lost girl most probably 5-6 years old, I tried to help her but all she knew was that her house was not too far but she didn’t know the name of the place as her family shifted there recently.
In the end, I opened google maps and showed her where she is and all the nearby places. In maps, she spotted her school which was near her house. She was just a few blocks away from her home. I helped her reach her school from there she was easily able to reach her home.
The movie ‘Lion (2016)’ was an inspirational movie for me where the protagonist “armed with only a handful of memories, his unwavering determination and a revolutionary technology known as Google Earth helped him find his lost family and finally return to his first home”.
The above two are just few examples of application of google maps and how useful it is for the people.
