Why do I do this? A local guide.

From beautiful flowing rivers to the tallest structures on this planet, from deserts to rainforests, from New York city to the slums of Africa, us humans have captured it all in photographs. Thanks to Katie Bouman and her colleagues - now we even have a picture of the black hole. For places I’ve not been to, these pictures serve as the source of information, imagination and more often than not, the motivation to travel, to explore. I care about sharing information and pictures on google maps because I see it as a source of immense help for people out there. When I visit a city for the first time, I instantly know where to find the best places to stay or to enjoy a meal. Google ratings remain the most reliable source of reviews. How else would I get to know about which food item is a must try from the chinese restaraunt at the corner ? Or if the road leading to a hotel is not safe and I should be prepared in advance ? You see, every single review and photo from a person who has been there makes my experience smoother and safer. It is not just about comments or compliments but it’s also about creating a sense of unseen trust on the part of the reader and a sense of resposibility on the part of the reviewer to pass on facts. And who if not me will contribute to this great cause ?
