Why be a Local Guide?

Hi everyone! I’m Ariel, based in Israel. At present, I’m a level 9 Local Guide, with ambitious plans wanting to continue progressing.

I joined the Local Guides Program a few years, thinking about the added value I can bring to travelers like me locally and around the globe. This program is based on the generosity of many, wishing to contribute to the general knowledge on an amazing platform, namely Google Maps. Like me, so many others search for information and places on Google, but not everyone is aware of the fact that behind each review and uploaded picture there are people. Those who are devoted (More or less) to keep the society updated. In addition to the vast amount of information Google is displaying based on its algorithms, ordinary people share their views and critics. … Apparently, It’s a huge community of dedicated people, who are continuously sharing their knowledge and experiences with the only goal of helping others. Therefore, being able to contribute as a Local Guide is right and a duty simultaneously.

So far, I visited 85 countries and landed on all seven continents, with Antarctica being the last one to concurred in February 2020.

For the last few years, I love publishing my photos, critics, experiences and rating the places I visit, and now it’s part of my daily routine. On the move, I take pictures that will give sufficient information, rate the place, and upload the information. In addition, I assisted newly established businesses and created for the new Google entries. Also, when I have free time, I use my phone to review the information on places I know and answer questions. It is then great to be able to share and recommend the wonderful places I visited.

In short, the Local Guides program is a part of my daily life - It is so natural for me to take pictures and rate places. Exploring new places, updating on changes and modifications and assisting new business is my humble contribution to the worldwide society.

I hope to be able to expand my activity and assist the developers in their QA activities.

Take care,

Ariel

Hi @arielcaner ,

Keep in mind that one of the requirements for Connect Live 2020 was to share your post on the Local Stories board. Just to let you know, I’ve moved your post there.
